Featuring Irakli Kakabadze & Local Musician Cooperative Nicopress

Presented by City of Asylum/Pittsburgh in partnership with the New Hazlett Theater

An evening performance of words and music, developed in a week-long residency in Pittsburgh.  A collaboration between Georgian poet Irakli Kakabadze & local musician cooperative Nicopress, featuring Matt Rosenblum, Herman Pearl "soy sos", Dave Bjoranson, Alex Bard, Jeff Berman, and Josh Tanzer.

Irakli Kakabadze is a multifaceted artist and has collaborated with a number of other writers and performers to establish ongoing projects such as the Polyphonic Blues Band and the theater group Theater for Change.  At the age of 20, he was the youngest member of the National Forum of Georgia, the leading national liberation movement.  In 2006 one of his collaborative partners died under mysterious circumstances, and Kakabadze was arrested three times for voicing his criticisms of the government.  Kakabadze holds an M.S. degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University in Virginia.
